Being a polymath gives you the ability to draw on complex domains of knowledge to find solutions that the rest cannot even comprehend. The modern polymath is a T-shaped person – depth of knowledge in a specific domain augmented by breadth of knowledge across multiple domains. This helps them innovate by connecting concepts in ways others don’t even know to look for.

It is a better indicator of intelligence

High IQ levels & knowing specific skills from your expertise are important. But they don’t capture all the parameters of raw intelligence. A much better indicator is through a person’s ability to be a polymath. It reflects traits such as curiosity, ability to learn, ability to tackle complex concepts, ability to think out of the box and ability to constantly evolve their skillsets & knowledge. That is why throughout history we have admired people who are ‘well read’.

It pushes you to be a better version of yourself

Everyone should enjoy multiple passions because as humans we are capable of a lot more. In the olden days, the ideal complete well rounded human was the ‘Renaissance man’ (& woman).
